PLOURDE, Gérard - Décédé paisiblement avec sa famille à ses côtés le jeudi 1er juin 2023 aux Services de Santé Chapleau Health Services à l'âge de 97 ans. Époux bien-aimé de Cécile depuis 74 ans. Père aimant de Michel (Joanne), Robert (Marilyn), Dan (Trish), Suzanne Clifford (Joe) et Luc. Fier grand-père de 15 enfants et prédécédé par un petit-enfant. Arrière-grand-père de 25 enfants et d'un autre en voie de l'être. Il anticipait aussi un arrière arrière petit-enfant.

Due to the extreme forest fire hazard, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has declared a Restricted Fire Zone effective Thursday June 1 at 12:01 am local time for the Districts of Hearst/Cochrane/Kapuskasing, Chapleau/Wawa, Timmins/Kirkland Lake, Sault Ste Marie/Blind River, Sudbury, North Bay, Minden/Parry Sound/Bracebridge, Pembroke, a northern portion of the Peterborough/Bancroft District, and the southeastern portion

Due to scheduled maintenance at the Chapleau Water Treatment Plant, to take place June 3-10, 2023, along with the hot, dry climatic conditions, the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) is asking residents to conserve their water usage and to NOT conduct any lawn watering, vehicle washing, etc.
The Splash Pad will also be closed from June 3-10 to aid in conservation measures.

Due to the current hot dry conditions and extreme fire hazard in the area, the Township of Chapleau wishes to advise residents that all outdoor fires are banned. We continue to monitor the situation and thank you for your understanding.

Shortly before noon on Monday May 29th, 2023 the Township of Chapleau was made aware of a fire approximately 7KM East of the Chapleau Municipal Airport on the East side of Borden Lake. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has deployed resources on the fire. The Township is in direct communication with the MNRF and will provide updates as they are made available.
