MESSAGE FROM THE TOWNSHIP OF CHAPLEAU EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has informed the Township that the fire located on the East side of Borden Lake is an estimated 0.5 hectare in size. MNRF has good progress and continues to action their efforts with ground crews. The fire remains classified as “not under control” is described as having low behaviour.

Le ministère des Richesses naturelles et des Forêts (MRNF) a informé le Canton que le feu situé du côté est du lac Borden a une superficie estimée à 0,5 hectare. Le MRNF a fait de bons progrès et continue de déployer ses efforts avec les équipes au sol. Le feu reste classé « non maîtrisé » est décrit comme ayant un comportement faible.
Shortly before noon on Monday May 29th, 2023 the Township of Chapleau was made aware of a fire approximately 7KM East of the Chapleau Municipal Airport on the East side of Borden Lake. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has deployed resources on the fire. The Township is in direct communication with the MNRF and will provide updates as they are made available.
Lundi 29 mai 2023 avant midi, le canton de Chapleau a été informé d'un incendie à environ 7 km à l'est de l'aéroport municipal de Chapleau du côté est du lac Borden. Le ministère des Richesses naturelles et des Forêts (MRNF) a déployé des ressources sur l'incendie. Le Canton est en communication directe avec le MRNF et fournira des mises à jour dès qu'elles seront disponibles.
