Obituary: Marie Musclow
MUSCLOW, Marie “Doodie” (nee Fortin) – Passed away peacefully at the Services de Sante Chapleau Health Services on Wednesday October 21, 2020 at the age of 91 years. She was predeceased by her husband Fred, who passed away in 1977.
Marie was born in Chapleau to Emile and Alberta (nee Lemieux) Fortin. She was the second youngest in a family of 10 children. She is survived by her youngest brother Robert Fortin (Margaret) and was predeceased by her other brothers and sisters; Octave Fortin (Irene), Colombe Champion (Harry), Marguerite Levesque (Édouard), Veronique Somerleigh (Ed), Jean-Noël "Johnny" Fortin (Vera), Raoul Fortin (Yvette), Lorette Fairbrother (Jeff) and Emile Fortin. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews including John and Ronald Champion who always referred to her as their TPA…Tiny Perfect Aunt.
Marie worked for the Ministry of Natural Resources for 35 years until her retirement in 1985. She was endeared by her colleagues for her friendliness and sharp sense of humour. She had the same effect in her dealings with most of the employees of the businesses in town. It was not unusual for one of them to say: “I love that woman!”
A Memorial Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday October 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Maxwell Ojukwu officiating. (Due to Covid 19, the number of attendees will be restricted, masks are mandatory and social distancing will be in effect). Cremation has taken place at River’s Edge Cremation Centre, Sault Ste. Marie. If you wish, memorial donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Parish or to Services de Sante Chapleau Health Services in memory of Marie.
