Obituary: Joseph Michael Berthelot

BERTHELOT, Michael James Joseph – (January 30, 1965 – February 25, 2016) - Passed away peacefully on Thursday February 25, 2016 at the Chapleau Health Services after a courageous 15 month battle with ALS at the age of 51 years.   Cherished husband and soul mate of Tarja Berthelot. Loving and dedicated father of his precious girls Tuija and Niina.  Dear son of the late Joe and Ida Berthelot, brother of Robert (predeceased), Dan (Sue), Ron (Pauline), brother-in-law of Ari (Lisa) and son-in-law of Ilmari Ekoluoma.  Uncle Mike will be lovingly remembered by his nieces Angie, Pam and Raija as well as his nephews Tim, Gary and Raimo. He will be greatly missed by his great nephews Brandon, Nicholas, Vincent and Benjamin who held a very special place in his heart.  He will also be missed by his furry companion Princess.  Mike was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and spending time with friends and family at Tony Lake.  He was a diehard Leafs fan who truly believed that one day they will win the Stanley Cup.  He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his wonderful sense of humour, his caring nature, his willingness to help others, his generosity, his strong spirit and his heartfelt laugh.  Friends are invited to an evening of fellowship and sharing at the Royal Canadian Legion (Young Street) on Friday March 4th, 2016 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.  A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church on Saturday March 5th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Lee officiating.  Memorial donations made to the Chapleau Health Services Ultrasound Fund or the ALS Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
