2022 Municipal Elections
Are you interested in running for Municipal Council?
Reminder: Nominations Close Friday August 19th at 2 p.m.
Who can be a Candidate?
A person is eligible to be a candidate for Mayor or Councillor if they are:
- a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years old;
- a resident of the Municipality of Chapleau or a non-resident owner or tenant of land in the Municipality of Chapleau or the spouse of such non-resident owner or tenant;
- not legally prohibited from voting; and
- not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.
A candidate must be eligible as of the day they are nominated and must remain eligible throughout the election period and, if elected, throughout the term of office.

Your name must be on the voters’ list to vote in a municipal council or school board election.
The Municipality of Chapleau will be utilizing internet/telephone voting for the 2022 Municipal elections.
Electors on the Voters List will be able to commence voting on October 13, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. Eligible voters will be able to Vote from home using your landline, smart phone, or computer.
It is important that electors check on www.voterlookup.ca to confirm if you are on the voters’ list. You can add yourself, confirm or update your personal information, change your school support for the purpose of elections and add other electors under your address.
