Media release - Fire Deparment Recognition

September 25th, 2018 – Chapleau, ON Five members of the Chapleau Volunteer Fire Department were recognized at the September 24th Regular Meeting of Council for their long-time commitment and service to our community.

The first three medals were for 20 years of loyal and exemplary service to public safety and were presented by Mayor Levesque on behalf of the Governor General of Canada to Fire Chief Ken Groves, Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Mike Fortin and Firefighter Gerald Joly.

Two other individuals received the Fire Service Long Service Medal for 25 years of courageous and dedicated service to the residents of Ontario, protecting their lives and property from fire. These medals were presented by Mayor Levesque on behalf of the Fire Marshall of Ontario in absentia to Captains Marc Turcotte and James Apsey.

The Township wishes to congratulate all the recipients and thank them for their service.
