LONGCHAMPS, Joan (nee Bryson) - Passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Bignucolo Residence Long Term Care in Chapleau, ON. Joan is survived by her husband Jean Louis (John) Longchamps, sister-in-law Louise Mione, and 15 nieces and nephews. Joan is predeceased by William (Bill) Bryson (late Audrey), Michael Bryson, Patricia Heatherington (late Don), Eileen Fulker (late Ted) and Angelo Mione. Born in Chapleau on April 18, 1940 to Kathleen Bryson (nee Egan) and Micheal Bryson. Upon her graduation Joan accepted a teaching position in Sherbrooke, Quebec and later became principal at a high school in Lennoxville, Quebec. Jean Louis (John) and Joan were united in marriage on October 6,1979 in Sudbury, Ontario. While living in Chapleau, Ontario. Joan was manager at Cedar Grove Lodge and then moved on and was instrumental in the creation of the Sault College Campus in Chapleau. When Joan and John Louis (John) retired, they decided that they would travel together, which they did worldwide. One of her favourite spots was St. Maarten. Joan served for many years on the Chapleau General Hospital Board, the creation of Services de Santé de Chapleau Health Service, and was a Lifetime member of the Catholic Women’s League. Our families would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, PSW’s and the Activity Dept, staff at Bignucolo Residence for their compassionate and loving care of our Aunt Joan. Your kindness, dedication, and support brought comfort to her and to our families. There was always a smile and a warm welcome when family visited from out of town. We are profoundly grateful to Lucy Bignucolo, a dear friend of Joan and Jean Louis (John) whose compassionate care and support meant the world to our Aunt Joan during her stay in long-term care. Your kindness and patience provided comfort not only to them but to all of us. We will forever be thankful for everything you have done and for always being only a phone call away. Family and friends are invited to visit at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Ben Nshikita officiating. Spring interment will take place at the Chapleau Municipal Cemetery. Memorial donations made to the Bignucolo Residents Long Term Care or to Sacred Heart Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
