March 17th, 2020 – Chapleau, ON – Following the advice and information provided from local and provincial health establishments, the Township of Chapleau will exercise an abundance of caution in effort to keep our residents safe and healthy. Preventative measures are being taken to be pro-active against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, the Township of Chapleau is taking the following actions until further notice.
1. The following Municipal facilities will be closed: Chapleau Recreation Centre and the Chapleau Public Library.
2. The Public Works Department Garage will be closed to the public. All services including refuse pick-up and road maintenance will remain in operation.
3. The Landfill will continue with regular hours of operation.
4. The Chapleau Airport will remain open for Emergency services and fueling.
5. The Township will be restricting access into the Civic Centre. All inquiries can be made by calling the office. Landfill tokens will remain available for purchase.
6. The Handi-Transit bus will continue to operate with increased steps taken to clean and sanitize the bus. All users are reminded to refrain from using the transit if they are sick and to wash their hands prior to using the bus.
The delivery of municipal services will continuously be monitored and assessed based on the most current developments of the virus.
