Due to scheduled maintenance at the Chapleau Water Treatment Plant, to take place June 3-10, 2023, along with the hot, dry climatic conditions, the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) is asking residents to conserve their water usage and to NOT conduct any lawn watering, vehicle washing, etc.
The Splash Pad will also be closed from June 3-10 to aid in conservation measures.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
Due to the current hot dry conditions and extreme fire hazard in the area, the Township of Chapleau wishes to advise residents that all outdoor fires are banned. We continue to monitor the situation and thank you for your understanding.

Shortly before noon on Monday May 29th, 2023 the Township of Chapleau was made aware of a fire approximately 7KM East of the Chapleau Municipal Airport on the East side of Borden Lake. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has deployed resources on the fire. The Township is in direct communication with the MNRF and will provide updates as they are made available.

SPRING PITCH-IN 2023
Council is pleased to announce that the week of M ay 23rd to 27th has been designated as “Clean-Up Week” in Chapleau.
Council wishes to inform residents that the Public Works Department will only be picking up yard waste. Yard waste is defined as any grass clippings, leaves, plants, shrubs, hedges, branches and/or
small trees.

Notice to Dog Owners
POOP , SCOOP & REGISTER!
The Council of the Township of Chapleau wishes to remind all dog owners that By-law 2022-08, is a By-law to control dogs, contains the following regulation:
No owner shall leave excrement deposited by the dog on or in:
i) a Public Place ii) a Private Property
said excrement shall be immediately and without delay removed by the owner and disposed of in a sanitary manner.
The penalty for failing to comply with this regulation is $55.00.
