Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook Chapleau Wawa District
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry – Chapleau Wawa District, is advising area
residents that a Flood Watch has been issued for the district until Friday, April 28, 2023.
Residents in the Chapleau Wawa District area should keep a close watch on conditions and
exercise caution around rivers and streams. Please alert and monitor any children under
your care to possible dangers and supervise their activities.
The ministry is closely monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions.
Further updates will be issued as appropriate.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Description of Weather System
Mildly unsettled weather conditions are forecast for the next three days across the province
as a few weak low-pressure systems and troughs will be moving through the province. The
Northeast and Northwest regions will see mixed precipitation and/or snow.
Areas north and west of Timmins will get wet again, as the next low-pressure system will
start moving in from the west, producing rain and snow.
Weather forecast for Wawa for the following week shows daytime temperatures around 3-
4°, until Wednesday, with temperatures below freezing at night. Temperatures are rising to
12° starting on Thursday, with temperatures ranging from 1-3° at night. Approximately 30-
40 mm of rain is forecasted by end of week from Thursday to Monday.
Weather forecast for Chapleau for the following week has temperatures with a high of 5°
until Wednesday, with freezing temperatures during the night and forecasted snowfall of 3-5
cm until Wednesday. Temperatures are rising to 12° starting on Thursday, with
temperatures staying above freezing through the night. Approximately 30-40 mm of rain is
forecasted by end of week from Saturday to Monday.
