BOUCHARD, Germain – After a brief illness, Germain passed away peacefully at the Services de santé de Chapleau Health Services on Wednesday June 28, 2023 at the age of 74 years. Beloved son of Armande and the late Raymond Bouchard. A selfless and loving brother of the late Marie, Solange Richard (Jean-Louis), Raymonde Boucher (Leo), Claudine Liberty (Robert), Ginette Warren, Jasmine Sabourin (Yves), Alain Bouchard, Lise Venne (Michel), Nicole Boudreault (Maurice), Rene Bouchard (Kathleen)

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued an air quality statement for the Public Health Sudbury & Districts (Public Health) service area. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, smoke plumes from local forest fires as well as forest fires over Quebec will result in deteriorated air quality today. Public Health would like to remind residents of the health effects of forest fire (wildfire) smoke and how to protect yourself.

SAYLORS, William – Passed away peacefully with his brother by his side at the Bignucolo Residence at the age of 76 years. Dear son of the late Edna and Harvey Saylors. Loving brother of John Saylors. He will be remembered by his cousins Marjorie Cachagee Lee, Mike Cachagee and Brad Mercier and other extended family. William will be lovingly remembered as a very generous man to the residents of Chapleau Cree First Nation (Fox Lake) as well to other members of the surrounding communities.

Interim CAO recruited.
June 15th, 2023 – Chapleau, ON – The Township of Chapleau would like to announce that Lynne Duguay has been recruited as the Interim CAO. Formal confirmation of the acceptance of the position was received this morning and will commence June 19th, 2023.
Lynne is recently retired and brings with her 25 years of Municipal experience. Lynn will be assisting Mayor and Council with the recruitment of a new CAO.

We are writing to let you know that due to staffing shortages, Hydro One will be managing the day to day operations of Chapleau Hydro, effective June 13, 2023. Hydro One already serves the communities and businesses on the outskirts of Chapleau.
Chapleau Hydro’s regulator, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) has issued Hydro One an interim licence to operate the distribution business of Chapleau Hydro for the next six months.
