Notice to Dog Owners
POOP AND SCOOP
The Council of the Township of Chapleau wishes to remind all dog owners that By-law 2022-08, a By-law to control dogs, contains the following regulation:
No owner shall leave excrement deposited by the dog on or in:
i) a Public Place ii) a Private Property
said excrement shall be immediately and without delay removed by the owner and disposed of in a sanitary manner.
The penalty for failing to comply with this regulation is $55.00.

Due to a process interruption at the Chapleau Water Treatment Plant, residents may notice a discoloration as well as a taste/odour in the water. The Operators at the Water Treatment Plant are ensuring that all water quality regulations are being maintained.

April 7, 2022 – Chapleau, ON – Last year, the Township of Chapleau received the good news that it was successful in its application for a $150,000 Resilient Community Fund from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant program was developed by OTF to help the non-profit sector to rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID-19. Funds from the grant are being used to renovate the Chapleau Recreation Centre’s washrooms. Work is expected to be completed in the coming months.

2022 Fire Permits
Instructions for obtaining your 2022 Fire Permit:
Send an e-transfer in the amount of $22.00 to [email protected] , with the following information: Name, Address, PO Box #, Telephone # and email address.
Once e transfer payment is received, your permit will be issued and emailed to the address provided.
Permits can also be obtained at the Township Office, and paid by cash or debit.
Reminder: Fires are restricted between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.

NOTICE TO TAX PAYERS
The first instalment of the 2022 Interim Tax Billing is due March 31st, 2022.
A 1.25% penalty is imposed for late payment in addition to 1.25% per month per
instalment on overdue accounts.
